Kyiv initiates the convening of a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi in his evening video address to Ukrainians.
He noted that there are ongoing negotiations with partners to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities against the Russian Federation.
"We are working to get more real help. For the sake of achieving true equality in protection against terror, when the same, truly equal rules will apply to us here, in Ukraine, in Europe, and in other parts of the world, when we are faced with the same manifestations of terror, the same strikes of missiles and drones." , - emphasized the head of state.
He noted that every person's life should be valued equally.
"For these two days, we have heard nothing. About different conflicts - here in Europe and in the Middle East - different levels of threats, different airspace. Although the "shaheds" and ballistics are the same... About different threats of escalation. But are people's lives different, do people have different dignity? No. We value every life equally. Must appreciate. They must protect at the same level against terror. "Ukraine will make a request to convene a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council regarding the defense of the sky, the supply of anti-aircraft defense, relevant systems and missiles," Zelenskyy said.
Air defense deficit in Ukraine and collective defense of Israel
We will remind you that in recent months, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have had a shortage of ammunition and missiles for air defense systems, which has a negative impact on the situation at the front. At the same time, Russia intensified air attacks not only along the front line, but also on peaceful settlements of Ukraine, destroying critical infrastructure.
In an interview for PBS NewsHour, Volodymyr Zelenskyi admitted that Ukraine was unable to protect the Trypil TPP precisely because of the lack of ammunition in air defense systems. According to him, the Russians launched 11 missiles against the TPP: 7 were shot down, and then the air defense battery, which was protecting the facility, simply ran out of missiles.
Against this background, Ukrainians were outraged by the West's determination to defend Israel, when the US, Britain and France deployed their own fighter jets to shoot down Iranian drones. Zelensky himself commented on the situation diplomatically, but emotionally.
