Good sleep, exercise and eating more fresh fruit and vegetables are key factors in mental health in young people.
More than a thousand respondents were interviewed for the study.
Scientists have found that it is the quality of sleep, not its duration, that has the greatest impact on mental well-being. However, they do not rule out that too little or too much sleep has a negative effect on well-being.
In addition, exercise and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables were associated with improved mental health in the study group.
People who slept 9,7 hours a night had the least symptoms of depression, while those who slept 8 hours had the highest sense of well-being.
Consumption of 4,8 servings of fresh plant products was associated with better well-being, consumption of less than two servings was associated with poor health.
