Peskov assessed the situation with domestic violence in Russia
Kremlin representative Dmytro Peskov denies the surge in domestic violence in Russia due to the war against Ukraine.
In Russia, there are no trends in domestic violence that cause concern, law enforcement agencies do not record this. This was stated by the spokesman of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, according to rosZMI on Thursday, April 18.
Journalists asked Peskov if the Kremlin has statistics on a possible surge in domestic violence, including among servicemen who have returned from the war in Ukraine.
The representative of the Kremlin noted that these days the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin participated in an extended meeting of the collegium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"And among the indicators that cause concern, these types of violence did not appear at all," said Peskov. However, according to Russian mass media, because of the war, cases of domestic violence in which the aggressors are former or current military personnel are increasingly recorded in the Russian Federation. Human rights activists say that the government is covering criminals.
