Seizure of Russian assets in the US will lead to retaliation and legal proceedings. This will supposedly cause "serious damage" to America's economic interests. This statement was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov on Monday, April 22.

"This in no way can be perceived as any legal actions, they are illegal, and accordingly, they will be the subject of some kind of retaliatory actions and legal proceedings in one way or another. Both will be a very difficult process, but it will cause severe damage to the economic interests of the United States," he assured.

Peskov explained that "in case of implementation of such measures, of course, many countries, many investors will think ten times before making any investments in the American economy or keeping their assets there."

He stated that the Kremlin has an "extremely negative" attitude towards plans to seize Russian assets, as "this is nothing more than breaking all the foundations of the economic system, it is an encroachment on state property, state assets, and private property."

Last week, the ministers of foreign affairs of the G7 countries approved the statement following the meeting on the island of Capri in Italy. The issue of the transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine was postponed until June at the request of the leaders of the GXNUMX countries.
