The President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Vadym Gutzait named the amount of prize money that Ukrainian athletes can receive for winning medals at the 2024 Olympic Games. The official said this in an interview with Radio Kultura, Suspilne reports.

Currently, Ukraine has obtained 2024 licenses in 84 sports for the 14 Games in Paris. The most "blue-yellow" athletes are delegated in football (18) and gymnastics (13).

Compared to the previous Olympics in Tokyo, the prize money for Ukrainians for a gold medal will remain unchanged in dollar terms — 125. At the same time, payments for "silver" and "bronze" will grow - from 80 to 100 dollars and from 55 to 80 dollars, respectively.

"Premium funds are included in the budget. 125 thousand dollars for the first place, for the gold medal. And for silver and bronze - 100 thousand and 80 thousand dollars. Plus, athletes receive scholarships. That is, motivation is very powerful. But, I am sure, few people think about money now. Now everyone is thinking about glorifying our state," Gutzeit said.

Taking into account the change in the exchange rate of the hryvnia to the dollar from 2021, the prize money for the gold medal for Ukrainians increased from UAH 3.3 million to UAH 4.9 million.

Prize money for Ukrainian athletes for medals at the 2024 Olympics:

  • "gold" — 125 thousand dollars (4.9 million UAH)
  • "silver" - 100 thousand dollars (3.9 million UAH)
  • "bronze" — 80 thousand dollars (3.1 million UAH)
