A male zebra escaped from the Seoul Zoo, and for three hours he wandered the streets of the South Korean capital, trying to feed on the contents of garbage cans.

An animal named Sero (which means "vertical" in Korean) escaped from the zoo on Thursday evening. It is reported that the zebra broke through the wooden fence around the enclosure and went for a walk.

Residents of the city have made numerous videos of Cero walking through streets filled with cars and people and periodically looking into garbage cans.

In the end, the zoo staff were able to drive the zebra into one of the narrow streets, and then shot it with a capsule of sleeping pills. The animal, which fell asleep, was then placed in a truck and sent back to the zoo.

Sero is about two years old - he was born at the Seoul Zoo in 2021.

According to zoo employees, the animal's health is now satisfactory.
