A terrible realization did not prevent Chelsea from beating Real and reaching the final of the Champions League

After a 1-1 home draw, the Royals needed a win in London, or at least a productive draw. Betru gave football predictions in favor of "Chelsea", and he was not mistaken. Despite the fact that Real possessed the ball, the hosts completely controlled the game, smashing Zidane's experimental formation to pieces.

Madrid "Real" settled in a scheme with three central defenders, a diamond in the center of the field and Vinysius on the right flank of the attack - for the first time this season. Also, the cream coach decided to take a chance and released Ramos and Menda in the starting lineup, who were not fully ready physically.

All this resulted in the eighth dry match in the current draw of the Champions League for the goalkeeper of the "blues" Eduard Menda. If he keeps a clean sheet in the final, he will be compared with such mastodons as Buffon, Dida and Van der Sar.

The first half

The teams spent the first 12 minutes of the game scouting, scoring only long-range shots - Toni Kroos scored for Real Madrid, Rüdiger for Chelsea. "Chelsea" immediately found an answer to this, Kante brought Kai Havertz 1 on 1 with Courtois, the German hit the crossbar, but Werner, who was in the right place, scored the ball into the empty net - 28th minute, the score is open.

 

The situation did not change much for Real Madrid, they still needed to score at least one goal. And in the 35th minute, Benzema was close to accomplishing this task, but his header under the crossbar from close range was parried by the home keeper - definitely the best save of the match. The remaining 10 minutes of the first half passed without any dangerous moments.

Second half

Only one team made it to the second half. The defense of "Real" could not withstand the pressure and allowed the hosts' attack to do whatever it wanted. The score could well have been devastating if the following moments had been converted into goals:

1. 47th minute - Havertz hits the crossbar with his head after Azpilikuety's cross;
2. 53rd minute - Werner brings Mount out almost 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper of "Real", but the Englishman shoots higher from a lethal position;
3. 59th minute – Kai Havertz goes to the rendezvous with Courtois without any problems, but the Belgian goalkeeper takes the upper hand;
4. 66th minute - Werner speeds up the counterattack and passes to Kante in the penalty area - the defender hits the goalkeeper from close range.

It seemed that Real Madrid's goal in the second half was simply bewitched, but in the 85th minute, Chelsea doubled the score, Mount closed a fine pass from Pulisych and set the final score to 2-0 (3-1 on aggregate) - "Chelsea" in the final.

Interesting facts and records:

1. The 3rd ever English Champions League final will be held in Istanbul, the same number only in Spain;
2. "Chelsea" reaches the final of the Champions League for the third time, changing the coach in the course of the season;
3. Tuchel is the only coach who managed to reach the final of the Champions League for the second time in a row with different clubs (he led PSG last season).
