What experts say about MacBook Pro 16 2021

“The battery capacity of the 16-inch MacBook Pro is 99,6 Wh, which is much higher than the smaller MBP 14 (69,9 Wh), and the battery life in our tests is better. Our Wi-Fi test at an adjusted brightness of 150 nits lasts almost 17 hours and is about 8 hours at maximum SDR brightness. Unlike previous versions of macOS, we didn't notice a difference when using full-screen mode.

HDR video at maximum brightness lasted about 4,5 hours on our test sample MBP 16 with M1 Max SoC, which is slightly longer than the smaller MBP 14 with about 4 hours. On the other hand, a standard video at 150 nits lasts about 17,5 hours.

We did not notice a drop in CPU or GPU performance when asked about the battery. This is yet another advantage of the MacBook Pro 16 compared to Windows competitors, where powerful systems always reduce performance (especially dGPU) when asking for battery power.”

At the same time, Alex Vavro from tomsguide notes that although the performance of the new MacBook is on par, price of MacBook Pro 16 M1 2021 in most configurations, it noticeably hits the pocket, and only people who know their needs well will be able to recoup the money spent on using a new gadget.

The display in the latest MacBooks

Creativebloq considers the new mini-LED display one of the main features of the MacBook Pro 16. They note good color reproduction, contrast and Apple ProMotion technology, but at the same time complain that it never reached 4K resolution.

Given that one of the main tasks of this device is to work with high-resolution content, I would like to be able to view it in its native format. There is also a bang, which you quickly get used to, but here too, everything is not so clear, because there are some bugs related to the software.

Design and ports

Matt Hanson from techradar appreciated the return of many ports and the rectangular design of the new MacBook, identical to the modern iPad and iPhone, but he did not like the increase in size and weight. In addition, some ports are still missing.
