In addition to the fact that this ensures autonomy, provided that the water intake is sufficiently deep, the quality of own water is much better than that of tap water. Materials necessary for drilling wells
The following materials are required for drilling and casing:
- Plastic or steel casing pipes of different diameters — 90-110 mm, 125 mm, 140-225 mm. One of the most important elements in the work of a driller.
- The special material is bentonite, which prevents crumbling of the walls, floats, clogging of the well with sand, soil, and rock. Also, this special clay is a barrier to groundwater, so that it does not flow out of the ground.
- The well head is the connecting part between the pump and casing pipe. It hermetically closes the well and protects it from debris, small animals, and mud. Also, it holds the pump, protects against flooding and theft of pump parts.
- Filters made of stainless mesh or sprinkled with foamed polypropylene. They prevent the well column from clogging with mechanical particles of sand, soil and impurities that are dissolved in water.
- Polyethylene pipes intended for the flow of water under pressure from the pump to the well.
- Steel or plastic caisson covered, at the request of the client, with hydro- and thermal insulation. This hollow, sunken into the ground, hermetic container with a lid serves to safely place the equipment, protect it and the well from freezing, mud and other adverse external factors, including thieves.
- A well adapter, like a caisson analogue, is relevant when placing water intake equipment in a warm place. A reliable bronze, brass, steel element of the system makes it possible to operate the well year-round.
- Domestic surface or submersible pumps, pumping stations, hydraulic accumulators and other water intake units of different capacity and principle of functioning.
Water intake components must meet all technical standards and GOSTs, have certificates of conformity.
Features of choosing the necessary materials and equipment
Before the drilling rig arrives at the site, it is necessary to choose a casing pipe option: type and material of manufacture. Steel and plastic pipes are presented on the market:
- steel - reliable, wear-resistant, able to withstand high pressure, used on loose soils with a drilling depth of more than 65 m;
- plastic ones are light, easy to install, inexpensive, not subject to corrosion, but prone to deformation and not as strong as steel ones. They are not intended for swimmers and large depths.
If the characteristics of the soil do not require the installation of steel pipes, and the depth of the well does not exceed 60 m, it is possible to do with plastic. The number of pipes and their diameter depend on the purpose and complexity of the structure.
For extracting groundwater rich in mineral salts, it is better to use a filter with polypropylene dusting. It is reliable and durable, characterized by simple installation and a wide range of sizes.
The caisson is necessary for warming the well for the winter. And the easy-to-install and efficient well adapter is an excellent option when the hydraulic accumulator, filters, and pumping equipment are located in a heated room.
The pump option is selected according to the parameters of the required pressure and the estimated water flow.
Do not forget that the well must be installed at a distance of at least 4 m from the house and any other buildings. And if the water is supposed to be used for food, then the best option is an artesian well with a depth of more than 100 m.
