Primer, ultrabond or bond is a liquid transparent and colorless agent that improves the adhesion of the nail plate with gel polish.
Newbies often get confused in terms. Somewhere they say that all three means are one and the same. Somewhere they are different. And in some reviews, only one or two means are mentioned, and the third is absent. We offer to understand the terminology and properties of these products.
Primer (primer) translated from English means - primer. This is the very first layer in a three-phase manicure with gel polish. Primer degreases the nail plate, ensuring long-term wear of the coating.
The bond (bonder) has similar qualities to the primer. This next-generation tool has a more liquid texture.
The name ultrabond appeared last in the nail industry. As a rule, it is the most harmless chemically.
When choosing a primer, bond or ultrabond, you need to remember one thing - all three products are almost identical in composition and functions. It's just that manufacturers call the ego differently. It can be considered that it is one and the same.
Functions of primer, bond and ultrabond:
-
Degrease the nail plate;
-
They create adhesion, that is, they provide perfect adhesion between the nail plate and the decorative layer;
-
They increase the duration of wearing a manicure.
When choosing, you need to pay attention to whether this product is acidic or non-acidic.
Acid preparations have a methacrylic component in their formula. This guarantees maximum adhesion, but methacrylic, with long-term use, aggressively affects the nail, depleting and drying it.
When using aggressive preparations, it is necessary to ventilate the room and use hoods for manicure, as methacrylates in large quantities can cause dizziness, drowsiness, temporary vision and hearing disorders.
Because of this, the manufacturers decided to make a lightweight product with similar functions. This is how acid-free primers appeared.
Gentle primers, bonds and ultrabonds also perform degreasing and adhesive functions, but are more delicate in their effect on the nail plate due to the absence of a methacrylic component in the formula.
Acid-free primers, bonds and ultrabonds are marked as "non acid" or "acid free".
"Non acid" primer has time limits for laying the next layer. The master has a couple of minutes to apply the gel polish. The pH of ultrabond will coincide with the pH of gel polish only for a limited time. After a few minutes, the applied product will lose its ability to adhere.
