This is due to the fact that our Motherland is very rich in "deposits" of cast iron, and the transportation of heavy tanks over long distances is a very troublesome and rather expensive business, so imported versions of cast iron bathtubs are usually considered by potential consumers in the very last place. However, it is worth noting that imported cast iron products are traditionally distinguished by a more stylish design, which is not devoid of a peculiar elegance, and a higher level of enamel coating quality, although the price for all this entourage is also correspondingly quite high, even without taking into account the costs of transportation. However, if you handle a cast-iron bathroom rather carelessly, you can easily damage the enamel coating, which cannot be restored later.
The next category is bathtubs made of steel. Steel baths are much cheaper, and it is understandable why - steel is easier to process and has a number of disadvantages. Steel baths retain heat less well, therefore the water in them cools down quite quickly, so it is unlikely that you will be able to enjoy a full-fledged rest for a long time - you will have to add hot water all the time. In addition, the rumbling sound emitted by the bathtub when it is filled with water can also be attributed to the disadvantages. But on imported bathtubs, this defect is partially mitigated by installing dense rubber gaskets. However, such a measure cannot completely eliminate ego.

Steel baths, among other things, have a relatively low weight, thanks to which they are easy not only to transport, but also to install. However, there is also a drawback - since the steel is thin and very plastic, it is almost impossible to make baths of too large sizes from it.
Having decided to buy a steel bath, remember that good baths of this type have a thickness of at least 3 millimeters. Their price, of course, increases proportionally to the thickness of their walls. Famous for the quality of the bathtubs produced by the German company "Kaldewei", perhaps the Germans make the highest quality bathtubs from steel than anyone else in the world, and the quality-price ratio is suitable for families with almost any wealth. It is practically impossible to distinguish their products from cast iron products. It is better to trust your hearing: when tapping on the side of a steel bath, a clear tin sound is heard, while a cast iron bath makes a much muffled sound.
Acrylic bathtubs deserve special attention. They are made of acrylic, a synthetic polymer. In other words, from plastic. The process of making such plastic bathtubs is quite simple: a container of a certain shape is blown out of a heated acrylic layer using a vacuum method, while the acrylic sheet must be at least 5 mm thick, otherwise the bathtub will simply collapse under the mass of water poured into it. Acrylic has one peculiarity: the worse its quality characteristics are, the better it bends. Accordingly, bathtubs of intricate shapes are made of acrylic of lower quality. This is how the workpiece is obtained, which is then strengthened (reinforced) by applying multiple layers consisting of a mixture of fiberglass and well-hardened epoxy resin to the lower surface of the tank. The more layers, the better quality the bath in front of you.
Acrylic bathtubs have a lot of advantages. They are wear-resistant, retain heat perfectly, and water is poured into such a bath almost silently. They are perfectly restored, unlike steel and even cast iron baths. If you manage to damage the surface of the bath, a drop of acrylic and sanding is enough to destroy all traces of damage and return the surface to its original appearance. Another indisputable advantage of acrylic bathtubs is their designer variety and rich color palette of products presented on the market.
