In the coming months, the construction industry of Russia is expecting a significant increase in consumer demand. Such forecasts were made by representatives of VTCIOM based on the study of public opinion. In comparison of the pre-crisis data of 2013, 2017 and the plans for this year, the trends are well defined.
The main request of the country's residents is to start repairing their home. 17% of research participants indicated these expenses as the main ones, and for those who wished, it was almost twice as much. The figures level out after 2 years - in 5, every fifth owner decided to renew their home, in 2013 - every tenth, and 5 has every chance of becoming a record for the decade.
Economists regard willingness to invest in repairs as a sign of confidence in the future. It is not based only on stable income or responsibility of the owners. Now it is already possible to talk about the restructuring of values and a new, economical attitude to the family budget.
A significant part of the increased demand for building materials was expressed by those who, having survived the crisis, chose to repair the existing one instead of building or buying a larger living space. They got used to the new prices, saved up funds and prepared to build a family nest - for a long time or forever. Whether investments are considered investments depends on the application of technologies.
The owners of modern apartments with spacious bathrooms intend to finally realize their long-standing dream of a barrier-free shower. After the consumer lull, the construction market is again filled with an assortment from the world's leading manufacturers. The recent new residents are also getting ready to start work. There were few of them throughout the year - only about 5% of citizens, but still 2,5 times more than five years ago. Positive forecasts for the construction materials market also strengthen the coming season. Sellers of goods for repair noted the unusually early activity of buyers who made first volume orders back in February. Having experienced more than one hour of sluggish sales, the managers of construction stores are revising their supply plans and keeping prices for the time being.
