Among the very valuable systems that fell into the hands of the Syrian opposition is the Russian anti-aircraft complex "Pantsir-S1". Moreover, the captured sample turned out to be in good condition.

As a result of a full-scale attack on the positions of Bashar Assad's government forces, the Syrian opposition forces not only took control of Aleppo and several dozen neighboring cities, but also captured a large amount of trophy equipment. Among them there are interesting samples. Defense Express reviewers write about it.

According to the data of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, during the three days of the offensive of the Syrian opposition, Russian troops in the region suffered serious losses. At the same time, the rebels captured a significant amount of weapons and equipment, including Russian and Iranian models: tanks, armored personnel carriers, howitzers and aerial bombs. Part of the weaponry was left behind by the government troops in their haste during the retreat.

ZRPK "Pantsir-S1"

One of the most valuable systems that fell into the hands of the rebels is, of course, the Russian anti-aircraft missile and gun complex "Pantsir-S1". This mobile air defense complex, developed in the Russian Federation, is designed to protect against aircraft, cruise missiles and drones. The captured sample is in good condition, so this is a serious success for the opposition.

BM-27 "Hurricane" anti-aircraft missile system

Another valuable weapon was the BM-27 "Uragan" rocket salvo fire system. This large-caliber rocket complex was captured along with ammunition, indicating a hasty retreat of government forces from their positions.

L-39 aircraft

The Czechoslovak training and combat aircraft L-39 was also an interesting sample - the opposition captured up to five machines in total at the Kweiris air base near Aleppo. In addition to their training functions, these aircraft can be used as light attack aircraft, which was proven back in 1979 in Afghanistan. The machine can launch airstrikes against ground targets with rockets and unguided bombs.

"Strela-10" air defense system

Another sample of the Russian air defense system captured during the offensive was the Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile system. The complex is able to effectively hit low-flying targets.

UAV Ababil-3

Among the captured weapons were Iranian systems, in particular, the Ababil-3 drone, which was also dropped at the Kveiris air base. Such medium-altitude strike drones can effectively hit moving targets thanks to laser-guided munitions

In addition to the strike function, UAVs are capable of illuminating targets for 152-mm Krasnopil guided missiles, which can also destroy moving targets.

The rebels also captured an old Soviet S-200 anti-aircraft missile system and a Mi-8 helicopter, on which hung a portrait of Bashar al-Assad.
