During the restoration of the Park Abbey in the Belgian city of Leuven, frescoes over 800 years old were discovered in some of its rooms.

As Ukrinform reports, it reports TRV.

The most striking news from the restoration works is undoubtedly the discovery of 13th-century frescoes, among others, in the treasure room, on the stairs, on the wall церкви and in the premises of the archive.

For example, there is a mural where the biblical character from the Pentateuch in the Old Testament Moses is depicted with his brother Aaron.

The local authorities do not rule out that many more medieval frescoes can be found in the abbey.

It is noted that the large-scale restoration of the Park Abbey in Leuven is nearing completion.

By 2026, 15 years after work began, the historic abbey should be completely restored.

The final stage of the restoration of the eastern wing and the infirmary is currently underway. The first floor and the attic of the eastern wing will become a museum space and a meeting room.
