Do we need to say that always in such cases an angry mother should appear? That's what happened this time too. On Sunday, October 11, a 26-year-old resident of the American state of Utah went for a run and encountered an aggressive cougar. The young man ran away from the wild cat for 6 long minutes and cursed desperately.
The incident happened in Slate Canyon Park near the city of Provo. While finishing a 16-kilometer run, Kyle Burgess noticed small kittens by the side of the road and mistook them for lynx cubs. The American, of course, approached them and started filming on his phone. And of course, after a few seconds, the angry mother of the cubs jumped out of the bushes. True, it turned out not to be a lynx at all, but a larger and more aggressive cougar.
Kyle was as surprised as he was scared. But fortunately, he did not run away from fear, but began to struggle desperately. Which, most likely, saved his life. He started barking at the cougar, trying to scare her away with screams. But the cat continued to hiss and with all its appearance showed that it was ready to attack a person at any moment.
Kyle didn't shut up for a second, and at some point he started calling the cat "dude."
- Well, man, I don't really want to die today," the man said in a frightened voice after the cougar jumped in his direction several times.
Finally, Kyle decided to pick up a rock and throw it at the cougar. After which she ran away.
After the runner was "guided" by the cougar, he had to return to the meeting place with the animal, because otherwise Kyle would have to make a detour of 11 kilometers. Along the way, he met other runners who made him laugh when he asked, "Have they seen a cougar here?"
They believed him only after he showed the video.
A representative of the local nature protection authority, after watching the video, said that the man did everything right when he met the wild cat. Well, except that he got close to her cubs.
And the runner himself still does not believe that he managed to survive. Probably Kyle will be celebrating his second birthday, because he was very lucky to escape from the cougar. So also from the cougar mother.
