EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said that the first deliveries of artillery ammunition to Ukraine at the initiative of the government of the Czech Republic are expected at the end of May - beginning of June this year.
Borell made a statement following the results of the EU Council of Ministers on Foreign Relations, with the participation of the heads of foreign affairs and defense ministers of the member countries, which took place on April 22 in Luxembourg.
The EU seeks to accelerate the supply of artillery ammunition and air defense capabilities to Ukraine. In particular, many countries around the world joined the Czech initiative to find and supply ammunition for Ukraine. There is also support for the German initiative to find air defense systems for Ukraine.
According to Ukrinform, Josep Borrell welcomed the fact that some EU countries have expressed their intention to make specific contributions to the provision of Ukraine's anti-aircraft capabilities, including launchers and interceptors for them, as well as the supply of artillery ammunition to Ukraine, in accordance with Czech and German initiatives.
