In Tesla Cybertruck, the gas pedal can fall off and get stuck. A warning about problems with electric pickups appeared on the website of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
It is clarified that it is not about the entire gas pedal, but about the pad. If it falls off, it can get stuck, which will lead to unintended acceleration and increase the risk of an accident. NHTSA ordered Tesla to conduct a campaign affecting about 3,9 potentially dangerous pickup trucks.
There are at least a few cases where the gas pedal stuck in a Cybertruck. So, in one of the videos, it is demonstrated how easily the pad can be detached from the pedal, which then gets stuck in the inner lining.
Tesla recalled and repaired pickups with such a defect - an additional fastener was installed on the pad. However, the problem turned out to be serious, so the NHTSA intervened and ordered the automaker to repair all dangerous pickups. There are 3878 of them, and all of them have a 100 percent chance of being defective.
The company called the cause of the problem "an unauthorized change in the production process." Meanwhile, customers who have already paid for their cars are complaining about delays in delivery. Some of them received letters saying there was an "unexpected delay" in preparing the Cybertruck for shipment.
