Many articles have been written about how to properly cook classic borscht. However, few people know which ingredients should not be used.

Recipes for making borscht exist among many peoples, but all of them, for the most part, are similar to each other.

If you look in more detail, even in Ukraine, borscht is prepared differently, depending on the region.

Red bell pepper, mushrooms and prunes, pears and beans, donuts and croutons, meatballs and dumplings are added.

Then what can't be put in borscht?

As it turned out, a dish made with sausages, seafood and fish has nothing in common with classic borscht.

It is more correct to call such a dish beetroot soup with fish (or sausages).

There should not be any fish or semi-finished products in borscht, say professionals who cook real borscht exclusively with real meat.

In addition, you should not put buckwheat, eggplant, zucchini in red borscht, or at least do not call what is cooked with these ingredients borscht.

At the same time, some concessions are allowed regarding the use of cabbage - white cabbage can be replaced with Peking cabbage.

Also, there will be no complaints to housewives who add fresh or dried mushrooms to the dish.
