What we eat can harm or, on the contrary, benefit our health. In the course of research, scientists found out which substances in simple products can help the body, and what is their "secret to longevity."
Chrysanthemums
The phytochemical sulforaphane in cruciferous vegetables (such as broccoli, cauliflower, or Brussels sprouts) protects the blood vessel wall from inflammatory signals that can lead to heart disease.
Strawberries
Studies in which participants ate blueberries or strawberries daily for several weeks reported reductions in blood pressure, signs of oxidative stress, total cholesterol, and "bad" LDL cholesterol.
Garnet
The most abundant phytochemical in pomegranate is punicalagin, which is responsible for more than half of the antioxidant activity of pomegranate juice. Pomegranate phytochemicals have a number of anti-cancer and brain-healthy properties, research shows. This is what, at a minimum, is necessary for longevity.
