During the visit of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to the Omsk Tank Plant (Omsktransmash), it became known that full-scale production of GTD-1250 gas turbine engines for the T-80BVM (Kaluga) tank has been resumed at the Russian Kaluga Engine Plant.

The T-80BVM is a modern iteration of the Soviet T-80B tank, which entered service in 2017 and has been constantly improved based on combat experience.
GTD-1250 is a multi-fuel gas turbine engine of the GTD-1000 family, the power of which reaches 1250 horsepower.
Able to run on diesel fuel, kerosene, gasoline and their mixtures, the GTD-1250 plays an important role in the repair and production of new tanks, such as the T-80BVM, more than 120 of which were lost during the unjustified aggression in Ukraine.
