Aphids are harmful insects that attack a variety of agricultural crops, usually destroying the leaves of the plants. It belongs to the family of polyphages, that is, insects that feed on various plants. Aphids can cause serious damage to cultivated plants that they attack.
Although there are several species of aphids, one of the most well-known is the species that attacks potatoes. Their presence can be detected by the remains of drying crumbs on the leaves, as well as by the wrinkling and withdrawal of leaves on potatoes. Aphids can also attack other plants such as eggplants, peppers, tomatoes and other crops.
Aphids can migrate from other places, especially if they are already present in neighboring gardens or in the vegetable garden. Some species of aphids can overwinter in the soil or in the remains of plants left after the harvest. They may choose places such as shelters where they can survive the winter and then return in the spring. One simple tool will help in the fight against these plants:
- 1 liter of water;
- 1 tablespoon of soda;
- 1 tablespoon of liquid soap.
Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of liquid soap to 1 liter of water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until they dissolve. The finished solution can be used to spray plants affected by aphids.
This solution can help control aphids while keeping plants safe from harmful chemicals. However, it is always recommended to test the solution on a small area of plants before using it on the entire area to ensure that it will not harm the plants.
