Buick has introduced a new plug-in hybrid GL8 minivan in China. The car measures 5219 mm in length, 1878 mm in width and 1807 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3088 mm.
In the cabin, drivers are greeted by a minimalist dashboard with hidden ventilation holes, as well as a 30-inch curved display. Judging by the photo, the Buick interior boasts perforated Nappa leather upholstery, as well as heated and ventilated front seats. Passengers also have a 128-color lighting system, Smart Touch controls, three-zone climate control, and an audio system with 8 or 14 speakers.
Passengers are also offered a choice of several options for passenger seats. All versions have heating and ventilation, but the so-called "airplane" seats also have a massage function.
In addition to exquisite seats, passengers in the second row will find folding tables next to them, as well as a 15,6-inch entertainment system that supports wireless projection of the screen from smartphones. Passengers also have cup holders, a wireless smartphone charger and a compartment that can cool things down to 5°C or heat them up to 50°C.
Buick's minivan is powered by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1,5-liter turbocharged engine, a battery, and an electric motor, producing 392 hp. and 580 Nm of torque. Despite these impressive figures, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7,8 seconds. On the other hand, the van can travel up to 138 km purely on electricity.
Prices for the novelty in China start at $49 and can reach $668 for the top six-seater variant.
