Several European countries have announced the provision of a record aid package to Ukraine
In the first months of 2024, European countries allocated about 6 billion euros of aid to Kyiv, almost all of it for the military.
In recent months, Europe has practically overtaken the United States in terms of military support to Ukraine. In particular, Brussels provided about 42 billion euros, and Washington - 43,1 billion. This is evidenced by the data of the new Ukraine Support Tracker study on aid to Ukraine, which is regularly conducted by the Kiel Institute of the World Economy.
"In general, in January and February 2024, European countries allocated about 6 billion euros of aid to Ukraine, almost all of it for the military," the study says.
Germany announced its largest military aid package in almost a year - 2,4 billion euros. It included anti-aircraft defense systems, 155 mm artillery, ammunition, etc.
Sweden also allocated its largest ever military package of 0,7 billion euros. It contains a variety of both sea and land military equipment.
In total, as of February 29, donors and the EU allocated EUR 89,9 billion in military, humanitarian and financial support to Ukraine. Of them, the USA - 67 billion euros.
Since the summer of 2023, European appropriations have steadily exceeded receipts from the United States, because Congress has not approved any new aid to Ukraine for more than a year.
