The new Hyundai Veloster was shown in the first images without camouflage

Hyundai discontinued the Veloster model in 2022, leaving it without a successor. The current range of cars of the Korean brand today largely consists of crossovers, 4-door sedans and 5-door hatchbacks, and there is no place for compact coupes in it.

Independent artist "Theottle" decided to fantasize about this and put the Veloster back in order, showing what a revived two-door coupe could look like. The renderings of the designer were based on images of the recently updated Hyundai Elantra sedan.

The Elantra's aggressive front end, sharp profile, and full-width LED taillights look surprisingly balanced on the much shorter body of the car, which somewhat resembles the forgotten BMW 3-Series Compact.

Competitors for a hypothetically possible new-generation Veloster include the Toyota GR86 and Subaru BRZ twins, as well as the BMW 2-Series Coupe. However, the chances that Hyundai will still want to revive this niche model are close to zero.

The vast majority of automakers roll sports cars off the assembly line, so it's highly unlikely that such a model will ever get the green light for production.

Buyers don't seem to be interested in stylish but impractical bodies, so the mainstream coupe segment won't be back in vogue anytime soon.
