Active construction work continues in the village of Stary Saltiv, de-occupied from the Russian invaders. Housing and vital infrastructure are being restored. A resort village in the Kharkiv region, destroyed by the shelling of Putin's army, is coming to life before our eyes. Residents began to return to high-rise buildings. The builders claim: major repairs are almost complete — final preparations are underway before handover, informs FREEHOME.

The five-story building in Stary Saltov is almost ready for occupancy. In May 2022, the Russian occupiers shelled it with mortars — there were five hits. Then the ceilings collapsed, the gas pipeline was damaged, windows were broken, and the roof was broken. When the builders received the contract for restoration, it turned out that there was a lot of work.

Since October 2023, half a hundred construction workers worked every day on the restoration of the building. Due to the fact that the capital repair was carried out using new technologies, it now has the appearance of a new building.

"The most modern materials are used. With a margin of coefficient, cotton wool, 150 mm, is made - it will be very warm. Within a year and a half after the arrival, the roof was damaged in two places and water was pouring. We tried to dry all winter, used technologies, tried to completely remove mold and used all modern materials. They are not made of plaster, but of cement," explains Anton Pogarskyi, assistant to the foreman.

Without waiting for the official delivery, some residents have already returned to their apartments.

64-year-old Mykola Shevchenko lived in this house for almost 30 years. In May 2022, we had to evacuate because everything around was exploding from Russian missiles. He lived in Kharkiv for almost two years, now he got a job in Stary Saltov and now lives in his hometown.

"I miss you... It's good in Kharkiv, but it's better at home! There is electricity, no water, no gas. The windows were put in, the repairs were done well and continue to be done. Thanks to the guys, thanks to everyone who helps," emphasizes Mykola.

At another construction site in Stary Saltov, three two-story houses were seriously damaged a year ago. One of them was damaged by 50% and stood practically without a roof for two years.

"The buildings were all completely damaged, the building "Skhidna-3" suffered the most, because there was a direct hit right into the roof. This house was disconnected from all communications for almost 1,5-2 years before the repair and it was heavily flooded to the basement: it thawed the slabs and walls," explains Volodymyr Levin, a representative of the construction contractor.

Volodymyr Levin supervised construction work in all three buildings. He says that there was a lot of work: insulation of facades, glazing, roof repair - everything was done in a year and will be finished in May 2024. The know-how that builders are now making according to new requirements is a storage room instead of a basement.

"Lighting was carried out and six sockets were installed. That is, in case of "somewhere something something" you can sit down, you can charge at least some [equipment, phone] temporarily", - notes Volodymyr Levin.

The restoration of 17 apartment buildings in Stary Saltov is financed by the State Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression, only 10% of the co-financing is provided by the territorial community.

As reported by the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the total cost of the works exceeds 577 million hryvnias — this is the most expensive reconstruction project in the Kharkiv Region.

In addition to the residential buildings in Stary Saltov, the school and the administrative building, which will house the Center for the provision of administrative services and the medical center, are also being overhauled.
