The new Mazda 6 became an electric car for the first time: it got rear-wheel drive and a new name

The Japanese automaker has introduced the EZ-6 electric sedan for the Chinese market, which will be the successor to the Mazda 6 model with an internal combustion engine.

 

It is worth noting that the new Mazda is based on the same EPA1 architecture as the Deepal SL03 sedan, produced by the Chinese partner of Mazda's joint venture with Changan. It is known that production of the new model will begin before the end of this year.

The new electric car is 4921 mm in length, 1890 mm in width and 1485 mm in height. Unfortunately, Mazda has not yet provided the technical characteristics of the new product, but it is known that the electric car will have an ideal weight distribution on the axles - in the proportion of 50:50. It is expected that the electric car will have a range of 600 km, and the version with an internal combustion engine - about 1000 km.

It is likely that electric power units from the Deepal SL03 will also be offered in the EZ-6. The Chinese sedan is available with battery packs with a capacity of 58,9 kWh and 66,8 kWh, which drive a 215 hp rear electric motor, as well as a 255 hp electric motor on the front axle.

According to representatives of the Japanese automaker, the new electric car implements Mazda's Soul of Motion design philosophy with slim LED headlights and a bright grille. In the cabin, there was a place for a 14,6-inch display of the infotainment system and a 10,2-inch digital instrument panel.

Mazda says the EZ-6 will get an intelligent parking system that allows you to control the car by voice, even when the driver is outside.
