Yellow resin appeared on cherries: reasons

You may notice that yellow spots of resin have appeared on plum, cherry, cherry or other trees. This is how the thick and very sticky juice flows. This is not a good sign for gardeners.

What happened to the trees?

A yellow substance can appear on the trunk when it is damaged by rodents or diseases. It often happens that the trees manage to recover on their own. But sometimes it happens that the symptoms become threatening.

Fungal infections

One of the diseases that can cause the release of resin is cytosporosis. Characteristic signs are the cracking of the resin and the appearance of gum. This is a severe damage to the tree. Treatment of this disease is possible only in the early stages of development.

To prevent damage, you need to whitewash the trees. Additionally, spray with a 1% solution of copper sulfate or Bordeaux liquid.

Frost damage

Gum can also appear when exposed to low temperatures. Frost damage must be treated. To do this, cut the gum together with part of the healthy trunk tissues. Disinfect with 1% copper sulfate and apply garden putty.
