So the company decided to demonstrate the safety of the entire model range. The test was performed at the brand's testing ground. For testing, experts deliberately chose the largest and smallest model. In this way, the Swedes wanted to show that the design of their cars is able to protect the driver and passengers, regardless of the dimensions of the vehicle.

The length of the Volvo EX30 is only 4230 millimeters, which makes the electric car the most compact model in the Swedish brand's line. At the same time, the weight of the car is about 1800 kilograms. In contrast to the compact crossover, the engineers contrasted the five-meter EX90 SUV, the weight of which exceeds 2680 kilograms. At the time of the collision, the massive SUV was traveling at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour, while the compact SUV was traveling at 20 kilometers per hour.

As a result of the crash test, Volvo representatives reported that the design of the EX90 reduces the risk of injury to the passengers of compact cars due to the lower part of the front structure of the body, which absorbs the force of the impact during the collision. According to the results of the tests, none of the dummies acting as passengers were subjected to excessive loads.

Electric crossovers EX30 and EX90 have not yet passed the official crash tests of the Euro NCAP or NHTSA associations. However, Volvo has no doubts that both models will receive the maximum safety rating.
