It is a shame to throw away leftover products or ready meals. Most send them to the freezer, and then defrost them as needed. But if you are used to sending the product directly from the camera to the pan or pot, you should change your approach.

According to Jennylyn Hutchings, a certified food safety specialist, the safest method of defrosting is to transfer food to the main compartment of the refrigerator. It takes about 0,5 hours to defrost 24 kg of food.

Hutchings notes that thawing can be done in cold water. In this case, the time will be reduced to 20-30 minutes per 0,5 kg. However, the water temperature should not exceed 5 degrees Celsius. If you are in a hurry, you should use the microwave. But only if a special defrosting mode is built into it.

If you need to do the opposite - save the leftovers for the future, you should immediately send them to the refrigerator or freezer. If you leave food at room temperature for a long time, bacteria can multiply and subsequent freezing will not kill them.
