The first-ever "dogfight" between a modified F-16 - an aircraft controlled by artificial intelligence (known as the X-62A) - and a manned aircraft took place, and the US military is keeping a little secret about this epochal duel.
In the US, officials said that the confrontation was successful, however, citing national security considerations, they did not say who won, writes Business Insider.
"Everything is going well or even faster than we had hoped," Lt. Col. Ryan Hefron, head of the ACE program at the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), told reporters. At the same time, the officer emphasized that more detailed information about the "air battle" could not be provided.
Journalists also learned that the "air battle" took place in September 2023 at the Edwards Air Force base in the state of California. "... both fighters... worked out different scenarios... of battles," the material emphasizes.
