Turning on the low oil pressure indicator on the instrument panel can signal a number of problems that will ultimately lead to rapid engine failure. Among them: low oil level, leakage, gasket failure and even oil pump failure. The expert gave advice to motorists on what to do if such an indicator turns on, AmperCar informs.
According to the expert, the first thing to do is to stop the car as soon as possible, turn on the emergency alarm, try to remove the car from the roadway and turn off the engine.
Whatever the problem was, due to which the engine lost a sufficient level of oil, it is impossible to continue driving without this lubricating fluid, so the next step was called by the specialist to call a tow truck.
If the low level of lubrication did not occur due to puncture of the crankcase, knocking out of the plug or other mechanical damage, which can be evidenced by streaks and puddles on the asphalt, then you can try to add oil and continue driving, but with great care.
However, if the indicator does not go out, then the direct way for the car will be only service.
