The same vegetarian diet can be both useful and harmful for different people, and the reason for this is not only health indicators, but also age. A dietitian doctor told about it in more detail.
According to the candidate of medical sciences, the human body is not adapted to exclusively plant food, and meat is extremely important for children and young people.
"It is young people who give up meat most often. And then they face such problems as anemia and osteoporosis, because the body did not receive the right animal protein," explained the doctor.
With the passage of age, the need for meat decreases, in connection with which after 45 years it is quite possible to start practicing vegetarianism - it will even be a plus for health, will contribute to the preservation of youth, the doctor noted.
"Thus, a vegetarian diet at a young age is harmful to the body, and at an older age it is beneficial," the nutritionist summarized.
