Ukraine will receive F-16 fighters from Belgium
The Minister of Defense of Belgium noted that they want to deliver the planes to Ukraine "as soon as possible", and everything is being done to ensure that the delivery takes place this year.
The Belgian authorities have decided to hand over F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine as early as 2024, although the exact dates are still unknown. This was announced at a joint press conference by Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo and Belgian Defense Minister Ludivine Dedonder, BRF reports.
The Minister of Defense noted that they want to deliver the planes to Ukraine "as soon as possible", and everything is being done to ensure that the delivery takes place this year.
Dedonder added that Belgium's defense capabilities are not at risk as a result of such a transfer.
De Croo emphasized that the provision of the fighter jets should be financed by revenue from frozen Russian assets, not by Belgian taxpayers.
