The other day, Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was detained in Russia. And this step could have been agreed with the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergei Shoigu, according to political scientist Abbas Gallyamov.

On Channel 24, he explained why Shoigu himself is still in office. According to the political scientist, it should have been removed at the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine - in March-April 2022. However, then there would be suspicions, because Russian dictator Vladimir Putin continues to claim that "everything is going according to plan."

"Secondly, and this is the most important, it is not a fact that another will come and fight conditionally "better". That is, is it worth changing the needle for soap? Shoigu is now in such a position that any failure can be blamed on him and he can be dismissed without punishment," Gallyamov added.

It is noted that Putin can appoint new ministers at least every six months. However, then his "image of power and control", which the dictator has been building for many years, will be destroyed.

"If he hysterically, like the late Yeltsin, starts changing ministers, his rating will drop to zero. Therefore, yes, he can afford to do such cleanings, but with confidence that there will be no negativity," Galyamov summarized.
