An Arizona grand jury has indicted 18 associates of Donald Trump for trying to disrupt the 2020 presidential election. Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Boris Epstein are among the defendants. Politico writes about it.

The indictment, which includes charges of conspiracy, fraud and forgery, names Trump as an unindicted co-conspirator.

According to the text of the document, the co-conspirators tried to prevent the legal transfer of presidential power to keep Trump in office against the will of Arizona voters.

In addition to Meadows, Giuliani, and Epstein, the defendants include attorneys John Eastman, Jenna Ellis, and Christina Bobb, Trump 2020 campaign staffer Mike Roman, and 11 Republicans who impersonated the state's presidential electors despite Joe Biden's narrow victory there. Among the latter are former Arizona Republican Party chairwoman Kelly Ward, state senators Jake Hoffman and Anthony Kern, and Arizona RNC committee member Tyler Boyer.

The Arizona attorney general's investigation was initially reported to focus primarily on voter fraud, but in recent months it has become clear that it was broader.

Arizona Attorney General Chris Mayes has become the fifth prosecutor to file criminal charges in connection with an attempt by Trump and his allies to change the results of the 2020 election in several states.

Special counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with federal crimes for those attempts. Prosecutors in the state of Georgia have charged Trump and many of his allies with trying to change the results of the election in that state, including conspiring to falsify the results of the vote. Prosecutors in Michigan and Nevada also charged Republicans who impersonated voters in those states.

Mayes was elected Arizona attorney general in 2022, replacing a Republican, so her 2020 election collusion investigation began later than her colleagues in other states.

It will be recalled that in February, the Federal Court of Appeals in Washington ruled that Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution for alleged crimes he committed during his presidency in order to "nullify" the results of the 2020 election.

It was previously reported that on April 4, the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia, rejected the request of former US President Donald Trump to withdraw the charges against him for interfering in the 2020 presidential election on the basis of the First Amendment to the US Constitution

By the way, on April 15, the ex-president of the USA, Donald Trump, arrived at the Manhattan court, where the selection of the jury in his case about bribing a porn star began. The 77-year-old Trump, before entering the courtroom, declared that the case was "political persecution".
