Specialists of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) reported on the X social network that they managed to establish contact with the SLIM lunar landing module, which survived the lunar night for the second time in a row.
Despite the fact that the sun was still high, and the device's equipment had not warmed up enough after the lunar night, when the temperature on Earth's natural satellite drops to minus 173 degrees Celsius, the engineers were able to take a picture of the lunar landscape with the help of a navigation camera.
Let me remind you that on January 19, 2024, the Japanese SLIM apparatus lost a part of the nozzle of one of the engines during the landing on the moon. This led to incomplete suppression of the lateral velocity and, as a result, the attachment of the module "on the head". But despite this problem, the device was able to receive energy from the sun and transmit data to Earth.
