The war against Ukraine costs Russia 300 million dollars a day.

Due to the fact that the Kremlin is constantly increasing spending on financing aggression against Ukraine, as well as due to the need to modernize outdated weapons, Putin will probably have to raise taxes on the population, because the costs may increase.
According to the results of 2023, Putin told Russians about economic growth of 3,6%. However, it is connected with the fact that trillions of rubles were invested by the Kremlin in the military-industrial complex, experts note. They add that this will not save the economy of the Russian Federation in the long term, and the first signs of its depletion can already be seen now.
Analysts have estimated that $135 billion remains in the Russian National Welfare Fund, but the Kremlin has access to only $58 billion in liquid assets (dollars, stocks, and bonds). The remaining funds are mainly in Chinese currency and gold. At the same time, Putin withdrew $38 billion from the fund last year.
The WSJ notes that if the Russian dictator dares to appeal to the Fund again this year, there will be no money left, which is why he is ready to make an unpopular decision and raise taxes for Russians.
