In the first month of spring, vegetables started to become cheaper in Ukraine. Today.ua writes that it is an agricultural product that is part of the so-called borscht set.
Since the beginning of the year, potatoes, cabbage and other vegetables, which Ukrainian housewives use to prepare borscht, have significantly increased in price. Against the background of other agricultural products, they were record holders in this indicator:
- potatoes rose in price by 50,4%;
- beets - by 49,1%;
- cabbage - by 32%;
- carrots - by 24,1%;
- onion - by 12,6%.
However, with the onset of warm weather, last year's crop began to spoil in storage, and producers put large quantities of produce on the market. This, as well as the import of foreign vegetables, "cooled" the market and in March prices began to fall rapidly.
Since the beginning of the month, wholesale potatoes have become cheaper by UAH 1-2. Currently, its price is UAH 12-14 per kilogram, depending on the manufacturer.
At the beginning of March, white cabbage cost within 9-12 hryvnias/kg, now it is sold at 8-10 hryvnias per kilogram.
The lower price bar of onions fell by almost a quarter. At the beginning of the month, its prices fluctuated in the range of UAH 13-14/kg, now – UAH 10-14/kg.
The lowest price of beets fell by five hryvnias (from 12 to 7 hryvnias per kilo). It is traded in the range of UAH 7-15/kg. Chicken and eggs also became cheaper in March.
