American bombers will carry out a series of missions in Europe in cooperation with allies and partners.
Four American B-1B Lancer strategic bombers have arrived from Texas at Moron Air Base in Spain since last Sunday. This was reported by the US Air Force Command in Europe.
"Our ability to fly in the Arctic and deploy strategic bombers to forward positions in Europe is critical to assuring allies and partners of our commitment to regional security and stability," said Gen. James Hecker, commander of U.S. Air Force Europe.
American bombers will carry out a series of missions in Europe in cooperation with allies and partners, "contributing to deterrence, providing greater operational unpredictability to potential adversaries."
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation previously complained that on March 24 and 26, the Russian military was forced to raise MiG-31 fighter-interceptors into the air due to the approach of the US Air Force B-1B strategic bombers over the Barents Sea to the Russian state border.
The agency assures that when the Russian fighter jets approached, the American strategic bombers adjusted their flight course and flew away from the Russian border.
