Russia's attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities and objects of critical infrastructure increase the urgency for the US Congress to pass a decision and bill with large-scale support of Ukraine.

This was said in response to Ukrinform's questions on Wednesday in Washington, US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Jeffrey Payette.

"We are working very, very hard and we are very hopeful that Congress will approve the president's request for additional funding for national security needs as soon as they (lawmakers - ed.) return from the Easter break. I think that the attacks of the Russian Federation in recent days increase the urgency of this step," the representative of the State Department emphasized.

He noted that the US administration is optimistic about a positive outcome from lawmakers on this issue, "and of course that's what I'm hearing from members of Congress when I talk to them."

Payette also emphasized that the United States will continue to coordinate its actions with allies and partners, who have also taken on a significant burden to support Ukraine. In this connection, he separately mentioned efforts to prepare for the next conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will be held in Berlin in mid-June this year.
