The company is reportedly already developing a compact truck that will sit a step below the 4,97m Tucson-based Santa Cruz. Hyundai is preparing the car specifically for the emerging markets of Brazil, Argentina, South Africa and India, where small pickups are in demand. Brazilian media predict its debut in 2026 or 2027 and a line of power units from Creta.

The idea of turning the Creta into a pickup is not new. Back in 2016, Hyundai presented the Creta Sport Truck Concept (STC) at the Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. It was 4,68 meters long, 1,85 meters wide and 1,63 meters high with a wheelbase of 2,8 meters. That is, the pickup truck was significantly larger than the first generation Creta, which was available at the time.

The new truck will be based on the second Creta and is expected to share its engine line-up with engines up to 157 hp. (up to 166 hp on ethanol) and turbodiesel with a capacity of up to 115 hp. The interior architecture will also be copied from the crossover, with an adjustment for the form factor.

This is not the only pickup that Hyundai is working on. Recently, the Korean manufacturer filed for registration of the names Ioniq T10 and Ioniq T7, which can be used for pickups with different sizes of batteries.

Subsidiary Kia is also going to release a pickup: it is expected to be able to compete with the Ford Ranger and will be named Tasman. The novelty will be built on the basis of the Kia Mohave and equipped with a turbodiesel V6, which develops 277 horsepower on an SUV.
