One day, the owners of the farm heard a characteristic squeak somewhere nearby. It must be a kitten, decided the owner of the farm, a man named Morgan. Arriving at the source of the sound, people could not find the kitten.
Eventually, the tiny creature was discovered in an old tree stump. The kitten turned out to be a girl. Morgan decided to wait a while to see if the mother cat would come. But no one appeared near the cub, so the girl was taken home.
The kitten had a lot of fleas and her eyes hadn't opened yet. Leaving the creature defenseless would be madness, as the farm was frequented by foxes, Morgan explained.
That same evening, the kitten found its home. In the family, the babies were given a bath, all fleas were removed and they were fed milk from a pipette. The cat was named Polly.
A 12-year-old Labrador named Paxton became interested in the commotion. The dog watched the kitten so enthusiastically that it surprised the owners.
Polly spent her first night in the house curled up on top of Paxton.
The Labrador began to take care of the kitten, lick Polly and even wash up. For example, he could go up to her, sniff and lick her all over, starting with the face in the milk, the family members said.
So Pax and Polly began to live on the farm and became constant companions. Now the farmers were not afraid to let Polly out, because she had a protector - a large Labrador.
And nothing changed when Polly grew up and became a big mischievous cat. Pax is now 13 years old, and Polly is one year old, but they are still touchingly attached to each other.
