The first Ukrainian weapon according to NATO standards: what the UAG-40 can do (video)

The UAG-40 grenade launcher is one of the first purely Ukrainian domestic developments of means for close combat, manufactured according to NATO standards. It can be loaded with all available types of high-velocity grenades of the NATO standard 40x53 mm.

The grenade launcher was adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2017. "Armory" notes that this type of weapon is carried by a soldier, and before firing, the grenade launcher is placed on a tripod. Together with it, the weapon weighs less than 30 kg. Features of the construction of the tripod make it possible to use the grenade launcher in unprepared positions. It can also be mounted on a car or boat using an adapter.

Purpose of the grenade launcher: suppress the manpower and firepower of the enemy in trenches, behind hills or in ravines, in lightly armored vehicles and fortified positions. The advantages of the UAG-40 are high accuracy when firing bursts, simplicity and reliability of operation, as well as a reduced recoil impulse.

Characteristics of the UAG-40:

• The maximum firing range is 2200 meters
• Sighting range — 1500 meters
• Can fire both bursts and single shots
• In Ukraine, they produce grenades for it - fragmentation and high-explosive PGOF-40 (radius of damage 10 m), fragmentation and cumulative PGOK-40 (armor penetration up to 80 mm) and inert (training) PGI
• Rate of fire — 400 shots/min
• Weight without ammunition and machine — 17 kg
• The speed of the grenade is 240 m/s.
