The KIA company has been teasing its fans for a long time with the hybrid model of the second-generation Kia Niro crossover. And the technical characteristics of the car, which was shown back in November 2021, have finally been revealed!
Kia Niro II hybrids promise to sell already at the end of January 2022. The car will be offered in three versions - a traditional and plug-in hybrid and a pure electric car.
The first to go on sale will be a conventional hybrid with front-wheel drive and a fuel consumption of no more than 5 liters in the urban driving cycle.
Detailed characteristics of Kia Niro Hybrid decided to reveal shortly before the start of sales, which will begin in South Korea. The car has increased in dimensions, which makes it more solid than the previous generation model.
Kia Niro has grown in length by 65 mm, in width by 20 mm and in height by 10 mm. The wheelbase was also increased by 20 mm, respectively. All this indicates that this is precisely the next generation of the car, and not the modernization of the current one.
In the Kia Niro of the first generation, the battery was located in the luggage compartment, which caused complaints from the owners. They say, the volume of the already small trunk has decreased because of this! The manufacturer listened to the comments and gave the task to the engineers to get rid of the problem. Now the battery has moved under the rear seat, which allowed to increase the volume of the trunk by 15 liters. Now the trunk volume of the compact crossover is 451 liters.
Traditionally for modern cars of this class, the backs of the rear seats fold, increasing the volume more than twice. Thanks to this, Kia Niro allows you to transport even large-sized cargo - this is not a sedan in which you can't put anything high!
The suspension of the new generation of the Korean car has not changed - McPherson remained the same at the front. The rear still has a multi-link suspension.
Under the hood of the car, which is the first to debut in South Korea, is a simple atmospheric engine with a working volume of 1,6 liters. This is all the same GDI Smartstream, well known from the first generation Niro. They decided to leave Ego unchanged - the power unit produces the same 105 liters. with, that is before.
