Bladder inflammation often occurs suddenly, accompanied by such symptoms as pain and increased body temperature. Meanwhile, I know what is cystitis, it is possible to take the necessary measures in time and avoid the transition of the disease to a chronic stage that is difficult to treat.
Causes of the disease
The most common cause of cystitis is a bacterial infection. Due to the defeat of the walls of the bladder and ureter by pathogenic microflora, the patient experiences severe pain, a general deterioration of health. In the absence of appropriate treatment, the pathology may spread to adjacent organs, for example, it will affect the kidneys.
In addition to infection, treatment with some drugs, radiation therapy, and improper use of personal hygiene products can cause cystitis. Many cases are known when the disease became a complication of another pathology.
Symptoms
The severity of symptoms depends on many reasons: the age of the patient, the general state of health, the state of the immune system. The most common symptoms of cystitis:
- sharp and irresistible urges to urinate (sometimes false);
- burning in the ureter during urination;
- traces of blood in the urine;
- the appearance of a sharp unpleasant odor and turbidity of urine;
- unpleasant sensations in the pelvis;
- increase in body temperature to 37-38°.
If the disease affects young children or the elderly, cases of urinary incontinence often occur.
Therapies
The method of treatment of cystitis is selected depending on whether there is an infectious pathology or the disease is caused by other causes. Bacterial infections are currently treated mainly with antibiotics.
Non-infectious cystitis, including its chronic forms, is treated with:
- drugs injected directly into the urethra;
- physiotherapy;
- hot baths;
- phytotherapy.
Regular prophylaxis is crucial in the successful treatment of cystitis and its prevention. It is possible to prevent the penetration of infection into the urethra by observing personal hygiene, as well as by changing the diet. It is necessary to drink a daily rate of clean water (at least 2 liters), regularly consume cranberry juice (contains proanthocyanidins), and also give preference to non-carbonated drinks, herbal teas and anti-inflammatory preparations.
