Expert opinion on Isuzu Oasis

31

The Isuzu Oasis car model is a class of minivans produced by the Japanese automobile company Honda from 1995 to the end of the nineties for the North American market. This car model was a clone of a widely popular car model at that time - Honda Odyssey. In the mid-nineties, a contract was signed between Honda and Izuzu. According to his conclusion, the Honda company, under a license agreement, could produce the Izuzu Rodeo and Trooper models (Honda Passport and Acura SLX). Accordingly, Izuzu received a license to produce Honda Odyssey and Honda Civic models (Isuzu Oasis and Izuzu Gemini).

Thus, the Oasis was a practical copy of the Odyssey, with a more affordable price, although Honda was much more popular. The reason for this is simple - buyers preferred Honda.

How did Isuzu Oasis gain popularity?

Since this is a minivan, the greater interest in the Oasis was caused by its interior, which, by the way, was distinguished by great comfort. Also, it would be appropriate to mention that the base variation of the Oasis was equipped with three airbags and the most affordable tires of the size at that time 205 / 65R15.

Isuzu Oasis had two options:

  • - S
  • - LS

Each of them differed in the number of seats. The standard modification, S, had seven seats: two seats in front, the third row in the middle, the second row in the back with two seats. The design of the brake system had disc brakes with ABS on all wheels.

By the way, if you are interested, in 2020, every fifth Isuzu Oasis bought summer tires Premiorri "Solazo S Plus", this season these tires became the undisputed sales leader according to Ukrainian online stores and price comparison services.

LS was distinguished by six seats, where two separate seats were placed instead of the middle row for three seats.

Both configurations had a common ability; the middle row could be completely dismantled, and the rear seats could be folded, which increased the practicality of the car model.

Three years before the end of production, Isuzu Oasis got new exterior mirrors painted in the same color as the body. The first issues were with black mirrors.

Already at the end of the nineties (1999), Honda subjected the Odessa car model to significant changes that improved sales. However, the version of Isuzu - Oasis, remained unchanged. This served as the main impetus for the withdrawal of the car model from production.

Odyssey is still being produced now, and as a result, the success is only increasing.

Technical specifications

This car received the same technical equipment as the original (Odyssey).

As a power unit, a four-cylinder engine of the SOHC family with a capacity of two and two liters was used. The dynamics of the car was one hundred and forty horsepower. A four-speed automated gearbox was the transmission unit.

At the end of the nineties, the manufacturer installed a more advanced engine to replace the previous one with a capacity of 2.3 s gas distribution system of phase change - VTEC. The dynamics of this power unit amounted to one hundred and fifty horsepower. By the way, such a motor was also installed on the Honda Accord of the sixth generation.
