Choosing a tent

For a hiking trip, designed for several days, it is necessary to take a small house in the form of a light and waterproof tent. Experienced tourists, going to the mountains even for one day, try to take a piece of cellophane with them! But it also weighs a lot and takes up a lot of space at the top of the backpack. It is better to use a profile tent, which comes in different designs and is made of completely different materials.

The warmest are canvas tents, which are best taken for overnight stays where negative temperatures are expected. The disadvantage of these versions is that you need to look for pegs on the spot or take them with you. And such tents are distinguished by a solid weight and a high level of hygroscopicity - if it rains, it will simply get wet. But it doesn't matter - even in a wet canvas tent it will be warm, and besides, you can always buy something awning for a tent, which will protect you from the sun and rain, as well as not taking up much space and convenient for transportation.

When climbing mountains, every gram of saved weight is valuable. In this case, it is advantageous to use compact synthetic versions of tents made of polyester or polyamide. The best in this particular case is the compact and easy-to-carry Bolognese tent, valued for its even smaller weight and zero hygroscopicity. When choosing these tents, you must look at the density - if the bottom has a density of at least 200 T, and the top - up to 150 T, then this will indicate a high density of the material - the bottom will not tear even on sharp stones.

The presence of an air valve will also be considered a big plus - excess moisture will be removed to the top, and the mosquito net will allow you to sleep comfortably both during the day and at night. An additional zipper made of plastic, which can be opened from different sides, is also considered a big advantage - in case of rain, it is easily fastened.

In recent years, two-section tents have also appeared on the market. The inner part, made of thin material, is anti-mosquito, while the outer part is made of dense synthetic material. These tents are priced in the summer, since the upper part reliably protects a person from the sun and the breeze plays under it. But such tents are expensive and sometimes it is better for a beginner tourist to buy a synthetic tent with a visor - the sun will not get inside the tent.
