All entrance doors are divided into metal and wooden. But, regardless of what material this or that model is made of, entrance doors from the manufacturer must have the following qualities:
- the door structure must be durable;
– have good heat and sound insulation;
– have protection against hacking (including intellectual hacking);
- general aesthetics;
– practicality and, of course, access control (eyes, video surveillance, or glass).
The door can be made of wood, steel, or combinations of wood with chipboard or combustible plywood. The strength of the door depends 100% on the material from which it is made.
When choosing a steel door, it is necessary to consider the following qualities and properties:
– a high-quality steel door always has a solid front sheet that does not have welded seams (you need to pay special attention to this when choosing a reliable door);
- the door should have vestibules and platbands that will protect it
you from any hacking by ill-wishers. Keep in mind that good steel doors have a vestibule on the door frame as well.
Not the last role is played by the composition of the steel and the thickness of the sheets from which the door is made. Russian manufacturers usually make more durable, heavier doors (which is their significant drawback), compared to foreign manufacturers that use sheets of light steel 1-1,5 mm thick, therefore, such doors crumple under a strong impact, but do not break through.
Heavy domestic doors are more suitable for private houses or cottages, since these doors are held on levers attached to a beam that rotate on two bearings, and hinged doors are most suitable for apartments.
Steel doors consist of an outer steel sheet, then there are spacers, then another additional steel sheet, again spacers and an inner steel sheet. Inside the door there is foam, paper, foam, sawdust, mineral wool, which is an excellent soundproofing material.
Also, some manufacturers use a rubber gasket that does not allow external noises and all sorts of smells to easily penetrate into the apartment.
Door hinges are also different. There are standard hinges and hidden hinges. Hidden hinges have a more aesthetic appearance compared to ordinary door hinges. Hinges will provide additional security for the owners, in case of installation of anti-removal pins, called "tongues" or "fingers" in the wall. Their main task is to prevent an intruder from completely removing the door, even if the hinges are knocked off.
Also, the number of hinges and the weight of the door leaf play an important role when choosing a door. If your door is opened quite often during the day (50
times and more), then the recommended number of loops for you will be 3-4 pcs.
The same rule applies to heavy doors weighing more than 70 kg. If the door weighs up to 70 kg, then a couple of hinges will be enough for such a door. Hinges should also be equipped with a bearing or support ball - with them, the doors will serve their owners much longer, since the hinges will not wear out over time.
Door upholstery is also completely different - from natural ash upholstery to dermatin, plastic or wood upholstery - it all depends on the price category of the door. The average price of steel doors in Russia does not exceed $200-400, while products from imported manufacturers have an average price of $400-800.
