Among the many styles used in interior design, minimalism stands alone. This artistic direction arose relatively recently, at the beginning of the last century, and became something like a protest against the pompous and bright styles that dominated in the 19th century. Its appearance is also associated with the influence of oriental design trends, primarily Japanese style, with its characteristic conciseness, love of space and color restraint.
Rejecting classical design techniques, often based on an artistic accent, the style of minimalism uses more strict, but amazingly harmonious with the environment methods of interior design, related to the creation of simple geometries, freeing up space and a dualistic color palette. The main features of minimalism in the interior will be discussed in more detail below.
Lots of space
Interior design this style is characterized by spatial freedom. All unnecessary, bulky, cluttered premises should be removed. The absence of partitions, a small amount of furniture and a minimum of accessories - this is the formula for creating the right minimalism.
Big windows
Good lighting is one of the most important factors in creating an interior in a minimalist style. For this, it is necessary to use large, sometimes even panoramic windows that can fill the room with a sufficient amount of light.
Two colors, a game of halftones
Most often, two main colors are used here, creating an overall light color palette. The dominant color is usually white, and the correct accent in the room is created by a gray or black tone.
Natural materials
The style of minimalism perfectly absorbs all natural textures, such as stone masonry, wooden texture, metal surfaces and the shine of glass. Wooden, brick, ceramic, glass and metal materials are used.
Minimalism of decor
The decoration of premises in the style of minimalism fully corresponds to the name of the direction. No frills, bright ornaments and accessories. A few pictures on the wall are more than enough.
Simple geometry
The furniture here differs in functionality and conciseness. The furniture has a simple shape, at most with a slight bend. Straight lines, rectangular geometry, sometimes circular inserts - this is minimalism in interior design.
Modern curtains
Textiles are often inappropriate in a minimalist interior. Instead of ordinary fabric curtains, modern laconic blinds and roller blinds are used.
diffuse lighting
Artificial lighting takes an important place in this case. Such light sources as ceiling neon chandeliers, as well as LED spot lights and halogen lamps are used.
