Types and purpose of fittings for pipes

When carrying out work on the repair or installation of a new pipeline system, the question of choosing the type of the future pipeline, searching for the optimal material in terms of characteristics, which would meet all the requirements and be able to ensure a long term of operation, becomes acute.

The use of various types of pipelines leads to the use of special connecting elements inherent in a certain technology. Remember that if you choose fittings for polypropylene pipes for pipes, they must correspond to each other in parameters of thickness, diameter, material, thread pitch.

Threaded connections remain the most widely used for the installation of engineering systems due to their versatility. Such a method does not require special equipment for mounting a single joint and can be made without special skills. There are various methods of hermetic connection of pipelines, such as:

compression; welded; collet; adhesive; socket; press-joints.

The most common pipelines are systems based on PE, PP, PVC and metal. Water mains are installed using highly reliable compression fittings or using the technology of diffusion welding of polypropylene pipes and various elements. It is quite often necessary to use metal fittings, especially those made of cast iron. Industrial objects, where there are high requirements for temperature, pressure or resistance to external factors, are equipped exclusively with metal fittings and shaped parts.

Sewage systems are represented by quick-mount socket joints, the basis of which is the achievement of sealing thanks to a sealing rubber ring. This method of connecting the ends of the pipes allows you to maintain the pipeline, easily work with fittings of large diameter, and at the same time achieve protection against leakage of liquids and odors. There is a slight difference between PP and PVC pipelines. They are used in various indoor and outdoor sewage systems.
